- ➤ The Unbridled Sanctuary in Westerlo is asking local neighbors to help fund a new barn roof as it marks 21 years of caring for racehorses + it recently received the 2025 A. Gary Lavin Equine Welfare Award. WRGB
- ➤ Operation Santa's S.L.E.D. provided support for law enforcement families Saturday in East Greenbush by raising awareness for those facing financial and emotional hardship due to illness, injury or loss (inspired by a New York State Police Investigator's son's recovery challenges). WRGB
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Saratoga Springs Youth Ballet performed The Nutcracker at UAlbany Performing Arts Center on Saturday, featuring over 120 local dancers (ages 5 to 18). A sold-out show is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. Times Union
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local environmentalists Masha Zabara and Zoe Evans launched Eco-Hunting Alliance Hudson Valley to promote sustainable deer management and forest recovery by linking landowners with hunters + offering workshops on safe hunting and tracking; they plan to bring in new hunters and update old practices for better forest health. - ➤ The National Defense Authorization Act banned new barge anchorages on the Hudson River after local groups and officials raised concerns about water safety and wildlife habitats + the ruling prevents vessels from anchoring outside approved spots. Times Union
