ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Crews fought a house fire on Sererson Ave early Thursday morning in Altamont and used about 30,000 gallons of water to contain the blaze; multiple nearby fire departments provided mutual aid. WRGB
- ➤ A brush fire near Halfmoon Drive in Guilderland is contained (firefighters still monitor the area), causing Route 146 traffic to be reduced to one lane. Some homes nearby were evacuated while those along Route 146 were not. NewsChannel 13

- ➤ Community leaders and officials revived Lark Street on Wednesday with a ribbon cutting that introduced three new businesses; the Business Improvement District (BID) is boosting foot traffic and restoring the area's vibrant feel following a pandemic slump. WAMC

- ➤ Bill Oakley, the former Simpsons showrunner, will visit Albany on April 14 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 'steamed hams' with a talk show at Druthers Brewing Company and a post-event party. He will debut a limited-time trademarked hamburger (Bill Oakley-brand steamed hams) during his appearance. WAMC
- ➤ At Skidmore College, the Tang Museum shows 'Kathy Butterly: Assume Yes,' a 30-year survey of ceramic art, while Schick Art Gallery hosts 'Earthbound' featuring 11 artists. The Hyde Collection opens 'Toshiko Takaezu: Voices of Abstraction' Saturday (showcasing her work with painters Sam Gilliam, Adolph Gottlieb, and Lee Krasner). WAMC

- ➤ UAlbany students gained hands-on experience testing a resilient microgrid on March 26 at the Albany NanoTech Complex. NextEra Energy Resources and UAlbany’s College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering aimed to connect classroom learning with real-world renewable energy applications. University at Albany
- ➤ UAlbany’s graduate programs received high marks in the 2026 Best Graduate School rankings released April 9 by U.S. News & World Report. The university showed strong results in public affairs, information science, health, and engineering with Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy ranked No. 31. University at Albany

- ➤ University at Albany students in the Women in Government Fellowship are gaining practical public service experience with state agencies while preparing for leadership in policy.
