- ➤ Hoffman Car Wash will honor military members on Veterans Day when its stations in Albany, the Adirondacks, and Southern Vermont offer free washes on November 11. - ➤ Brian Malone from Guilderland was honored with the Outstanding Performance Award for his work as a mail fulfillment clerk at the Center for Disability Services last week at the NYSID dinner held at Rivers Casino — Resort in Schenectady, where he received a glass award and a citation from Assembly member John McDonald. - ➤ Brian Schaefer’s debut novel Town and Country tells the story of a small rural town facing lies and shifting allegiances during a congressional race, and The Spark of Hudson in Hudson will host a book launch event on November 8 at 6 p.m.—inviting local readers to meet the author—and celebrate the novel’s fresh look at community change. - ➤ The Schenectady County Legislature approved an extra $150K to fill a gap in SNAP benefits caused by federal funding delays following emergency fund orders. - ➤ Albany County launches drive-thrus today to help residents facing food insecurity from delayed SNAP benefits—sites include Green Island, Cohoes, Watervliet and Voorheesville.
